Week 70.1

OY ACCELERATED
My vertical has actually increased up to 2" in the last 4 months. I've been playing b-ball the last 2 weeks, and it's hurt and helped me. It's given me some spring, but also made my joints and muscles hurt. I'd need a month of regular ballin' to get in good shape - and that's never gonna happen.

So today's jump test sucked. Time's running out. I will persevere for 6 weeks or so, until the baby comes.

Here's the video. Music is Beastie Boys "The Move"

how much do you actually practice dunking? like with the tennis ball. in no way am i telling you what to do this is merely food for thought/suggestion, but with 6 wks left maybe you should start transitioning from weights to just dunking with increasingly larger balls. one thing i realized is that dunking is a skill unto itself and you will need to have technique down, not just ups. keep it up, i'm rootin' for ya. btw don't forget to rest, your knees and periodic decrease in gains suggest that you might need more, or at least schedule them wisely.

You are inspiring Joel. I've been following your blog for several months now and am still waiting to see you dunk! Keep up the good work!

Being new to dunking, as I've only just been able to really dunk over this summer, what anonymous said is entirely true. Dunking in itself is a skill that I have yet to master. Some of it has to do with how big your hands are and how well you can palm the ball, but having the skill, technique, and finesse once you get the ball over the rim will be what finishes that dunk for you. What I've found is that even though I have the leaping ability to touch almost the top of the square, I can only dunk like 50% of the time at best, because my hands are small and my technique is terrible.

That concludes my long-winded, "lesson" on dunking...

Keep the quest going even after your baby is born. If you can't find time to train have Mickey baby sit, lol.

As always best of luck.
